What to Expect The First Year

By Heidi Murkoff, 2018

Continuing the series from "When you're expecting", this one is similar and filled with amazing detailed information about raising a child. It's nice to see that our experience is normal, to feel empowered when our instincts are right, and to understand that there's a lot of variability and nuance and confusion with parenting. For example, we've heard different things from different books - which might seem annoying but is actually nice. It tells us that there is no single "right answer", every child is a bit different, and that kind of takes the edge off!

One funny thing - the book enumerates the different kinds of breastfeeders. There are the voracious eaters and the resters (who sleep on boob), but we think Pemi is best described as the "gourmet" eater. He suckles a bit then stops to enjoy and savour each moment. Maybe that means he's going to have taste! :)
